The stone is secured in a four-double-prong basket setting with a decorative openwork floral-style gallery and a polished tapered bail. The pendant is suspended on a yellow gold trace-link chain terminating in a spring ring clasp. The chain tag is struck with hallmarks for 9 carat gold, including the 375 fineness mark, a crown, and the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office. A sponsor mark of the letters AL within two conjoined oval cartouches is present. Further 375 stamps are visible on the spring ring clasp and its adjacent jump ring.
