A 1951 UK Festival of Britain George VI Cupro-nickel Crown in Original Box This United Kingdom cupro-nickel specimen five-shilling crown was issued for the 1951 Festival of Britain. The obverse features the George VI bare head portrait by Humphrey Paget, surrounded by the Latin legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX F : D : and the denomination FIVE SHILLINGS. The reverse displays the St George and the Dragon motif by Benedetto Pistrucci, with the date 1951 and initials B.P. in the exergue. The coin features an incuse edge inscription, with the word CIVITAS visible in the provided images. It is housed in its original maroon Royal Mint presentation box with a gilt-stamped Festival of Britain emblem and the date 1951. Approximately 2,000,000 of these commemorative crowns were struck for the occasion.
