A Group of Official 1972 Munich Summer Olympic Games Commemorative Postcards A group of official commemorative postcards relating to the 1972 Munich (München) Summer Olympic Games. The obverse of each card features vibrant, high-contrast graphic artwork based on official posters for the XX Olympiad. Depicted subjects include various sporting disciplines such as rowing, gymnastics, cycling, basketball, boxing, athletics, and sailing, alongside architectural views of the Munich Olympic Park including the Olympiaturm. The graphic style utilizes posterised imagery in a distinctive colour palette. The reverse of each card is printed with the German text: OFFIZIELLE OLYMPIA-POSTER DES ORGANISATIONKOMITEES DER SPIELE DER XX. OLYMPIADE MÜNCHEN 1972. Design credit is attributed to Aischer, Joksch, Wirthner, and Nagy, with printing by H. Weixler, Oberammergau. The cards are marked with various individual order numbers including Bestell-Nr. 101 through 114. Several examples within the collection are franked with matching Deutsche Bundespost semi-postal stamps and bear commemorative postmarks from BAMBERG 2, dated 4 August 1972, featuring the text: Briefmarken werben für München 1972.
