A Pair of Mason's Patent Ironstone Paynsley Pattern Plates A pair of Mason's Patent Ironstone plates in the Paynsley pattern. These circular plates feature a slightly scalloped rim and are constructed from ironstone earthenware. The decoration consists of a green transfer-printed border featuring a dense lattice and foliate motif. The central well of each plate is decorated with a polychrome floral spray, transfer-printed and finished with hand-painted enamel colours, depicting a central rose, a pansy, and forget-me-nots. The reverse of each plate bears a green transfer-printed backstamp with an arched Mason's above a crown device and a banner inscribed Patent Ironstone. Below this is Paynsley Patt, Made in England, Permanent Detergent Proof Decoration, and the number 81. Diameter: 22.8 cm.
