This work, first published in Welsh in 1909 as The Dawn of Welsh Calvinistic Methodism, provides a detailed account of the first three years of Howell Harris's spiritual life drawn from his personal diaries. The volume contains a frontispiece map titled Map of part of Wales connected with the early life of Howell Harris. The front free endpaper bears an ownership inscription in blue ink for Donald Poughill. Included as ephemera is a newspaper review clipping from December 1988 by Glyndwr Jenkins titled Through one so limited. The title page includes the publisher's mark of a standing figure reading and a quotation from Romans 8:16. The book was set in 11-point Baskerville and printed by Billing and Sons Limited, Guildford and London.
