Roberts, T. R. Eminent Welshmen: A Short Biographical Dictionary. Educational Publishing Co., 1908. Vol. I. A first edition copy of Eminent Welshmen: A Short Biographical Dictionary of Welshmen Who Have Attained Distinction From The Earliest Times To The Present, Volume I, by T. R. Roberts (writing under the pseudonym Asaph). Published in 1908 by The Educational Publishing Company, Ltd., Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil. The work is an octavo volume bound in the publisher's original dark green cloth, featuring decorative gold-stamped and blind-embossed designs. The front board is adorned with a central gilt Welsh dragon motif, while the spine displays Art Nouveau floral decorations and gilt lettering. The text block features all-edges gilt (AEG). Internally, the volume contains numerous black and white portrait plates of notable figures, including Rev. Christmas Evans and John Ceiriog Hughes. This copy includes a distinctive provenance in the form of a printed presentation bookplate affixed to the front pastedown, issued by the Montgomeryshire Education Committee in 1911. The bookplate is awarded to Morfydd Morris for two years of perfect attendance at Cwm Bel School and bears the printed signature of Llewelyn Phillips, Clerk, alongside the seal of the Sigillum Comitatus Montgomery 1889.
