Two Blue and White Porcelain Bowls, Chinese Qing Dynasty and Japanese Meiji Period A lot comprising two distinct East Asian porcelain bowls decorated in underglaze blue. The first item is a Japanese porcelain bowl of scalloped form with a lobed rim. The exterior and interior are decorated throughout with a dense millefleurs pattern consisting of small chrysanthemums and scrolling foliage. The interior centre contains a circular medallion with a swirling geometric and floral design. The underside features a concentric blue underglaze border around the footring consisting of a repeating geometric key-fret pattern. The second item is a Chinese porcelain bowl of circular form with a tapered foot. The exterior is hand-painted with figures in a landscape setting featuring pine and palm trees, interspersed with lobed cartouches containing floral sprays. The interior features a central peony spray and a hexagonal honeycomb diaper border at the inner rim. The top edge of the rim is finished with a characteristic brown-dressed glaze. Both bases are plain white and unmarked.
