A Pair of Large Mid-Century Italian Bitossi Hand-Painted Ceramic Vases A pair of large mid-century Italian hand-painted tin-glazed earthenware vases. Each vase is designed in a baluster form, featuring a wide flared rim, a tapering neck, and a spreading pedestal foot. The exterior is decorated with a stylized floral and foliate pattern in a palette of ochre, burnt orange, olive green, and manganese brown. The decoration is set against a white ground with a fine dark speckle finish throughout. The interiors of the vases are finished with a plain white glaze. The combination of the hand-painted pattern and speckled glaze is characteristic of mid-20th-century production from the Bitossi factory in Montelupo Fiorentino. The undersides of the bases show no legible marks or signatures. Height: 42 cm.
