An Antique Carved Oak and Brass Coal Purdonium with a Group of Fireplace Tools A late Victorian or early Edwardian wooden coal scuttle, also known as a purdonium, constructed from dark-stained oak. The slanted front features a hinged lid embellished with a large central carved floral rosette and four smaller matching rosettes at the corners. The lid is fitted with a turned brass knob, while the front panel below is mounted with a heavy brass bar handle on decorative backplates. The interior contains a removable galvanised metal liner with twin ring handles. A vertical slot is present to the rear of the wooden frame for shovel storage. The lot includes a group of metal fireplace tools, including a cast tool embossed FIREMASTER FIRES, a flat metal tool marked BISA, and a third tool with a textured grip and hooked end.
