Monogram CE, An Etching Titled Lock at Mountsorrel A landscape etching depicting a rural scene in Leicestershire titled Lock at Mountsorrel. The composition features a stone hump-backed bridge over a canal lock, with timber fencing and period cottages along the bank. The work is executed with fine line-work and cross-hatching, showing a visible plate mark. Centrally below the image is the printed title Lock at Mountsorrel. A circular monogram containing interlaced characters, possibly C and E, is present in the lower right corner of the plate. The etching is set within a cream window mount and a dark, multi-reeded wooden frame with a gilt inner slip. The reverse bears a label for Ocean Gallery, Swansea. Height: 47 cm Width: 76 cm.
