Bidspirit auction | A Trio of British Ceramic

A Trio of British Ceramic Serving Pieces including Johnson Bros and Brentleigh Ware This lot consists of three decorative earthenware serving pieces of British manufacture. The first item is an oval serving platter by Johnson Brothers from the Old English series. It features a moulded crimped rim with gilded accents and transfer-printed floral sprays in pink, yellow, and blue. The decoration includes a blue geometric border. The underside is marked with a printed green crown mark and the maker's name. The second piece is a large pedestal bowl, or tazza, decorated in the flow blue style with cobalt foliate scrolls and heavy gilding. The centre of the bowl features polychrome floral sprays. Although unmarked by the factory, the decoration is visually consistent with Royal Crown Derby pattern 4998. The underside displays hand-painted numbers 1892 and 2681. The third piece is a Brentleigh Ware dish in the Beech pattern. The elongated form features majolica-style moulded relief of leaves and a trellis fence, finished with hand-painted pink flowers. The reverse carries the printed green Brentleigh Ware Staffordshire mark.
