A Set of Late Victorian Charles Ford Porcelain Tea and Dessert Wares A set of fine porcelain tea and dessert wares manufactured by Charles Ford of Hanley, dating to circa 1892. Each piece features a fluted and relief-moulded body with scalloped, gilt-edged rims. The pieces are decorated with hand-painted polychrome floral sprays depicting orchids and irises in shades of pink, yellow, and purple with detailed green foliage. The set comprises a large serving plate, several dessert plates, teacups, and saucers. The underside of the items displays a green printed monogram for Charles Ford consisting of an intertwined C and F. Additional markings include a green printed registry mark Rd No 192299 and a brown printed registry mark Rd No 199923, both registered in 1892. A hand-painted pattern number 7439 is also present in red.
