Two late Victorian English earthenware ceramics including a Henry Alcock and Company Columbine pattern vase and a pheasant motif pedestal urn This lot comprises two pieces of English earthenware dating from the late 19th century. The first item is a glazed earthenware vase produced by Henry Alcock and Company of Cobridge. The vessel features a bulbous body with vertical ribbing to the lower half and a flared, scalloped rim. The exterior is decorated with a naturalistic brown transfer-printed floral design in the Columbine pattern. The base bears a brown printed mark with the pattern name, the British Registered Design number 226229, and ENGLAND. This registration number dates the pattern to approximately 1893-1894. The second item is a decorative two-part pedestal urn or jardinière. The campana-form bowl features twin handles and a gadrooned rim, resting upon a square pedestal base. The decoration consists of a multi-coloured transfer print featuring three pheasants, including Golden and Silver varieties, set against a landscape. The body is finished in a shaded orange-to-cream gradient ground with gilded highlights to the rim and handles. The underside of the base bears hand-painted iron red marks of two vertical strokes and a cross-shaped mark.
