HUMBOLDT ALEXANDER VON: (1769-1859) German Natural Scientist, Geographer & Explorer. A fine A.L.S., `A.V.Humboldt´, one page, small 4to, n.p. n.d., in French. In his typically small and difficult writing, Humboldt apologizes for being absent `I regret infinitely that I was not at home, Monsieur, when you had the kindness of bringing to me the letter of a colleague and a friend so dear to me.´, further suggesting a meeting `Could I have the honour of receiving Monsieur Duprat at the Institute
