FREDERICK I: (1754-1816) Duke of Wurttemberg 1797-1803, Elector of Wurttemberg 1803-05 and later elevated to the status of King of Wurttemberg 1805-16 by Napoleon I. L.S., Frederic, one page, small 4to, Stuttgart, 28th January 1816, to the Countess de Faucigny, in French. The King states that he received his correspondent's letter and attachment yesterday and remarks 'I should like to announce that I allowed your son to resign after receiving his request'. Countersigned at the foot by the Secretary of State. A couple of small pinholes and extremely small areas of paper loss to the left edge, not affecting the text or signature, VG
