ARMSTRONG LOUIS: (1901-1971) American jazz trumpeter and vocalist. An early vintage signed and inscribed sepia 10 x 8 photograph of the youthful Satchmo seated in a three-quarter length pose admiring his reflection in the bell of his cleanly polished trumpet. Photograph by Gibson of Chicago and issued by Johnny Collins to promote Armstrong as the 'World's Greatest Trumpeter'. Signed by Armstrong in fountain pen ink to the image, 'Best wishes to “Links”, 'Oh' you Rascal you, from Louis Armstrong', and dated 11th May 1933 in his hand.
