BARRIE J. M.: (1860-1937) Scottish novelist and playwright, the creator of Peter Pan. A.L.S., J. M. Barrie, one page, 8vo, Adelphi Terrace House, Strand, London, 27th November 1913, to Burgin. Barrie writes, in full, 'Thank you heartily for your letter and its proposal, and I would have agreed with pleasure, were it not that there are some business reasons why the parts should not be done, so please get Tess something else, and all good wishes to your scheme & yourself'. Barrie's correspondent may have been George Burgin, sub-editor of the Idler and secretary of The Vagabonds Club, of which Barrie was a member along with other literary figures of the day.
