FOWLES JOHN: (1926-2005) English novelist. T.L.S., John Fowles, to the verso of a colour picture postcard of Henri Rousseau's painting The Waterfall, n.p., n.d., to Dr. Braude. Fowles states that he is glad that his books have eased his correspondent's retirement and recommends a bibliography which can be found in the Bulletin of Bibliography (1976), continuing to remark 'I review very little; don't think writers should cannibalize and torture each other. I'm afraid I don't go in for signed photos, I feel that's rather more for pop stars and film actresses.' Together with a signed 6 x 4.5 photograph of Fowles in an outdoor head and shoulders pose.
