ROLLAND ROMAIN: (1866-1944) French Dramatist & Novelist, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1915. A good A.L.S., Romain Rolland, one page, Villeneuve 30th December 1931, in French. Rolland states in part `Je regrette de ne pouvoir vous recevoir ces jours-ci. Je suis assez souffrant et l´on m´interdit les visites. Je suis d´ailleurs surchargé de tâches et je ne pourrais lire maintenant de manuscrits ou d´épreuves; mais quand votre livre aura paru, je serai heureux de le connaitre´ (“I regret not being able to receive you these days. I am quite ill and they forbid me visits. Besides this, I am overloaded with tasks and I could not now read manuscripts or drafts; but when your book will be published, I will be happy to read it”) With blank integral leaf.
