PICOT DE DAMPIERRE AUGUSTE: (1756-1793) French General. Dead at the early age of 36 as a results of his wounds after having his leg ripped by a cannon ball when he was leading his troops. A.N.S., Dampierre, one page, 8vo, Brachelen, 8th February 1793, to the left border of a L.S., by several members of the third battalion council of Paris, to Captain Nicolet, in French. A ten lines annotation in Picot´s hand, approving a certificate in favour of Nicolet. Bearing a red wax seal to the front page left border, above Picot´s annotation. Together with an unusual original print by Dampierre, with attractive heading, one page, 4to, Valenciennes, 29th March 1792, to his friends, looking for financial support for a friend who wishes to publish a journal `..with the goal of confounding aristocracy and wake up Patriotism..´ Also including an original decree comprising six articles, three pages, 4to, 11th May 1793, stating `..Pantheon honours to Dampierre, killed while defending freedom and equality, leading the army of the Republic the 7th May..´ G to VG, 3 £200-300
