I can imagine how agonising this must have been for you and the very least I can do, however belated, is to send you my most heartfelt sympathy', further stating 'Needless to say, I was very sad to learn that you felt you ought to stand down from the Advisory Group, but I totally understand the reasons. Mary Marre (1920-2005) Lady Marre. British voluntary worker and public servant who led the Marre Committee which investigated the future of the law profession. Its acrimonious conclusions led to the Courts and Legal Services Act of 1990. Lady Marre was married to the British civil servant Sir Alan Marre (1914-1990) who died from cancer in March 1990.
