RATHBONE BASIL: (1892-1967) British actor, famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in a number of films. An excellent vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph, the original Universal Pictures publicity portrait depicting the actor in a close-up head and shoulders pose in costume as Baron Wolf von Frankenstein from the American horror film Son of Frankenstein (1939) in which he starred opposite Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. Signed by Rathbone in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area of the background. Scarce in this form.
