BANDARANAIKE SIRIMAVO: (1916-2000) Sri Lankan politician who served as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka 1960-65, 1970-77 & 1994-2000, becoming the world´s first female Prime Minister. Vintage signed 3 x 2 photograph of Bandaranaike seated in a head and shoulders pose at her desk, with a pen in one hand as she signs the papers before her. Photograph by Victor Sumathipala of Ceylon and bearing his (feint) credit stamp to the verso. Signed by Bandaranaike in blue fountain pen ink to the base of the image and dated 19th October 1962 in her hand. Accompanied by a printed vard sending best wishes from the Prime Minister of Ceylon. One slight paperclip indentation to the upper left corner of the photograph and card, and with some light scuffing and age wear to the latter. About VG
