BENEDICT XV: (1854-1922) Pope of the Roman Catholic Church 1914-22. His Pontificate was dominated by World War I, which he termed ''The suicide of Europe''. A good A.L., one page, 4to, n.p., n.d., to an attractive gilt embossed Papal monogramme letterhead, in Italian. Benedict XV provides an itemized list with lire figures alongside each entry, referring to raising money in order to help less fortunate citizens during the war, listing in part `H.H.
