ESCOUSSE VICTOR: (1813-1832) French Writer, his real name being Victor Laserre. His first playwright Farruck le Maure was quite successful, but when his second and third failed Escousse committed suicide at the very early age of nineteen. Very rare A.L.S., Victor Escousse, an attractive signature, one page, 8vo, [Paris], Sunday 10th October 1830, to Baron Taylor, in French. Escousse requests three theatre tickets from his correspondent, a French Artist, and states `I will visit you on Monday morning, I am worried, I will let you know why.´ further referring to his friend who together with him committed suicide `Ah! Please send me through Auguste a volume of Voyage dans l´Ancienne France. I will not repeat that I will take great care of it..´ With blank address leaf, with small area of paper loss due to the opening of the letter. Small overall age wear, otherwise G £250-350 Victor Escousse and Auguste Lebras, nineteen and eighteen years old respectively, both French authors, committed suicide by asphyxia in February 1832. Escousse wrote a last message including the epigraph he wished for his book. Alfred de Musset mentions Escousse in his poem Rolla.
