HUGO VICTOR: (1802-1885) French Poet and Novelist. A.L.S., Victor Hugo, one page, 4to, n.p., 10th January 1842, to Banker Eugene Theodore Gaillard, in French. Hugo refers to French writer Louis Desnoyers and states in part `..he reports to me that he has not received the 6 volumes of works. I am concerned because this makes me think that none of the remaining shipments has been delivered.. if so and as I explained to you this would be very serious
it is very important.´ With blank address leaf. Small ink holes to the address leaf and one pinhole not affecting the text or signature, otherwise G £400-600 Bankers Gaillard and Rampin together with bookseller Charles-Valery Duriez, financed the publication of a complete works edition of Victor Hugo.
