ZOLA EMILE: (1840-1902) French Novelist, Playwright & Journalist, a prominent figure in the Dreyfus Affair. A.L.S., Emile Zola, one page, 4to, Medan, 11th August 1882, to a colleague ('Mon cher confrere'), in French. Zola sends a clean and carefully written letter, stating in part `You are too kind my dear colleague, and you talk about my works using too much praise.´ further saying `Considering the whole matter, I only wish one thing: that readers believe a little, and that they come as huge crowd to Réveil. I doubt about myself despite the experience of Madame Bovary.´ With blank integral leaf. Folded. VG £800-1200
