LORRAIN JEAN: (1855-1906) His real name being Paul Alexandre Duval. French Poet of the Belle Epoque, associated to the Symbolist school. Lorrain was openly gay and became known as ''The Ambassador from Sodom''. A very good A.L.S., Jean Lorrain, four pages, 8vo, 19 Quai Voltraire, Paris, 29th October [1903], [to Jules Claretie], in French. Lorrain thanks his correspondent for the great evening at the theatre, stating in part `Les Affaires sont les Affaires is really the best playwright I have seen at the theatre for the last 10 years
´ further regretting that `..misunderstandings poisoned by colleagues have put distance between Octave Mirabeau and myself and are forbidding me to congratulate his fine work.
