NAPOLEON IV: (1856-1879) Prince Imperial, the only child of Emperor Napoleon III and his Empress consort Eugenie de Montijo. Prince Imperial Napoleon Bonaparte died at the very early age of 23, killed by Zulus during the Zulu War. An excellent L.S., `Napoleon´, one page, 8vo, Chislehurst, Camden Place, 24th February 1875, to Monsieur David, in French. The letter bears at the heading an attractive gilt ''N'' with a golden embossed crown above. The young Napoleon IV thanks his correspondent for his congratulations stating in part `.. I have received with great pleasure your congratulations for the marks I got on the Woolwich written test.. ´, further referring to his political future, saying `From now on, with the free disposal of my time, I will be able to take care more assiduously of my political interests..´ With blank integral leaf.
