CECILIA RENATA OF AUSTRIA: (1611-1644) Queen consort of Poland 1637-44 as spouse of King Wladyslaw IV. Archduchess of Austria as daughter of Ferdinand II, holy Roman Emperor. Cecilia died at the very early age of 32 after giving birth to a stillborn daughter. None of her children exceeded childhood. Rare L.S., Cecilia Regina, one page, folio, Warsaw, 16th June 1640, to Archbishop Larissano, Apostolic Nuncio to Warsaw, in Latin. The Queen of Poland thanks her `very dear friend´, refers to their former correspondence and mentions that `..last ones delivered by your son, which makes me happy..´ Cecilia further thanks the Archbishop for the favour rendered. With blank address leaf, bearing a royal paper seal affixed. Overall age wear and creasing, with small water stain to bottom and upper edges, not affecting the text and signature. G £1000-1500
