CISALPINE REPUBLIC: A good A.L.S., by Captain Malavasi, `Salut Rispetto - Malavasi´, one page, folio, Bolonia, 2nd December 1798, to the war Minister, in Italian. The letter bears an attractive vignette to the heading, above the printed title ''Liberta - Amor Della Patria - Equaglianza''. The Cisalpine Republic had been created by Napoleon a year earlier. Malavasi refers to his orders related to volunteer Mariano Merli. With blank address leaf, bearing to the last page contemporary annotations and receipt dates. Folded. About VG £80-100 The Cisalpine Republic was a sister republic of France in Northern Italy which lasted from May 1797 to January 1802 when the Extraordinary Cisalpine Consulta decided to change the name of the State to the Italian Republic.
