MACDONALD ETIENNE JACQUES: (1765-1840) Marshal of France. Duc de Tarante. A very interesting A.L.S., Macdonald, two pages, 4to, Paris, 2nd September 1803, to inspector Julien, in French. Macdonald congratulates his correspondent for his project of reorganizing the ministry, stating in part `The clarity, the precision and details make all together a monument..´ further insisting in the necessity of modernizing and organizing properly and with long-term plans, saying `..the reduction of a crowd of fools, ignorants, often insolents, who are only obstructing and delaying because of their laziness and inability to achieve their tasks
