Palestinian Dress, Bethlehem
A Palestinian Thobe ceremonial dress, Bethlehem, c. 1920. Made of strips of silk, decorated with rich couching with silk thread. This dress is decorated with the typical Bethlehem couching patterns of "watches", birds and flowers. With velvet and cotton patchwork on the Qabbeh (chest piece). Length: 141 cm, maximal width: 147 cm. Overall good condition, few small holes. See similar item in: Threads of Identity by Widad Kamel Kawar, p. 151 and 208.
