Presents a view of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus side by side with a view of Jerusalem at the time when the map was printed, both from bird's eye view. From: Georg Braun & Frans Hogenberg's Civitatus Orbis Terrarum, the most important book of town plans and views published in the 16th Century. Cologne, 1572, Vol, I, map no. 52. First Latin edition. dimensions: 33.5X48 cm. Laor 1039. Good condition (tears to edges, a few tiny hanging holes, minor staining to margins, pencil inscription on bottom). 1948 Czech stamp on verso.
