A Pair of A.G. Hackney and Co. Ltd. English Porcelain Lidded Trinket Boxes - A pair of circular English porcelain lidded trinket or relish boxes featuring multicolored transfer-printed scenes on the lids. The porcelain is finished with a clear white glaze. The first lid depicts a three-masted sailing ship with orange-toned sails navigating a green sea, surrounded by a circular border containing the text CLIPPER SHIP FLYING CLOUD OFF TUSKAR LIGHT. The second lid features a rural landscape scene with a white cottage, a figure on horseback, and livestock near water, with the text ST JAMES'S at the top and DERWENT WATER at the base of the scene. The underside of each base features a black transfer-printed mark within a beaded oval border. The mark is literally read as A. G. HACKNEY & CO. Ltd., ENGLISH, PORCELAIN, and Staffordshire. The interior of both boxes is plain white porcelain.
