Prestige Quality China Two Handled Porcelain Maritime Loving Cup - An English fine porcelain two-handled loving cup or vessel, manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent. The cylindrical form features a flared rim and a pedestal foot, flanked by two ornate figurative handles modeled as gilded sirens or mermaids. The exterior is decorated with a deep cobalt blue ground overlaid with a gilded fish-scale or diaper pattern. One side contains a rectangular hand-painted reserve depicting two sailing vessels with ochre-colored sails on a green sea. The opposite side features a circular reserve with a gilded and enameled nautical compass rose. The rim, base, and handles are finished with heavy gilding. The base bears a printed mark in black consisting of five lines: the top two lines read Prestige Quality China in Gothic script, followed by HAND DECORATED, STOKE-ON-TRENT, and ENGLAND in sans-serif capital letters.
