Sterling Silver and Enamel Royal National Lifeboat Institution Presentation Brooch - A sterling silver and enamel commemorative brooch for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The circular medallion features a central blue guilloche enamel disk depicting a silver-toned fouled anchor. This is surrounded by a white enamel ring containing the words ROYAL NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION in silver-toned capital letters. The brooch is surmounted by a stylized St. Edward’s Crown decorated with red and white enamel details. The reverse of the crown bears three small hallmarks struck in separate cartouches: a 925 mark indicating sterling silver fineness, and two other marks, one of which contains the letters WQL in a rectangular cartouche. The reverse of the circular medallion is hand-engraved with a presentation inscription reading Presented to J. GAYE RAMLEY in recognition of her valuable help 2002. The piece is fitted with a horizontal pin and a safety roller catch. A silver safety chain is attached to the side of the crown, terminating in a separate small safety pin.
