225. A STERLING SILVER CHALLAH PLATE BY ILYA SCHOR. New York, c. 1955. Circular in shape. Hand cut with depictions of Hasidic men with one holding a crown, one holding a cup of wine, one holding a torah, one holding a lulav, one holding a prayer book and one holding a spice box. The middle section is engraved with three Jewish children, each holding a religious object. Further engraved with excerpts from the Blessing of the New Month, and the names of the three children. Outer rim engraved with blessing over the bread and the former owner’s names. 11.7” wide. Signed in English I. Schor.
