Large Collection of Press Photographs – Moshe Dayan, Golda Meir, Menachem Begin, Yitzchak Rabin, Shimon Peres and others, 1960s-90s
150 press photographs documenting prime ministers, ministers and political events from the late 1960s through the early 1990s by the photographers Shalom Bar-Tal, Shalom Marder, Rivka Freiwald, Uzi Keren, Hanania Hermann, Tali Shani, Ya'akov Sa'ar, Shaul Golan, Shosh Kormush and others.
The photographs portray Golda Meir, Moshe Dayan, Menachem Begin, Yitzchak Rabin and Shimon Peres with ministers, Knesset members and other personalities from the political scene. Photographs from the Knesset, from speeches and press conferences, from elections gatherings, from ceremonies, events and meetings all over the country; photographs with their families, at weddings, funerals and more. Some of the photographs, from the late 1970s, document the process of negotiations and the public response prior to the peace treaty with Egypt, portraying president Sadat visiting Israel, the peace talks, a demonstration against the withdrawal from Sinai and more.
Most photographs are stamped on verso with photographer's ink stamp or signed by hand; some are titled and hand-signed on the front; some are titled by hand on verso and on some appear notes with information for the press (English and Hebrew); most are dated on verso, by hand. Printing instructions appear on the back of some photographs.
