Commentary by the Bavarian born R. Yom Tov Lipmann Heller (1579-1654), lovingly known as the ‘Tosfos Yom Tov’ after his major commentary to the Mishnah. In his youth he studied in Prague with both R. Yehudah Loewe (the Mahara’l) and R. Ephraim Luntschytz (the Kli Yakar). At the remarkably young age of 19, he was asked to sit on the Maharal’s Beth Din. In 1627 he was appointed Chief Rabbi of Prague.
