ANCIENT EGYPTIAN STEATITE AMULET OF TAWERET, 26TH DYNASTY, CIRCA 595-589 B.C.

This finely detailed steatite amulet represents the goddess Taweret, revered in ancient Egyptian culture as a protector of women and childbirth. Dating back to the 26th Dynasty, circa 595-589 B.C. Taweret is depicted in her traditional form, with the body of a hippopotamus, lion limbs, and a crocodile tail, symbolising her fierce guardianship.
