***Auction Highlight*** 1847 C Charlotte 9-E Gold Liberty Half Eagle 5 Graded Choice AU By USCG. Up for Auction is a Rare Charlotte Gold $5 Half Eagle. It is the Variety 9-E. On this variety, the 1 in the date is close to, but does not touch the bust. The 7, on the other hand, firmly touches the truncation. The 1847-C is rare in mid and high-end AU, and extremely rare in Mint State (Douglas Winter, 1998). The example at hand has Attractive yellow-gold color which covers both sides of this MS61 specimen, each of which gives off a slight greenish cast. The design elements are much better defined than ordinarily seen, including the eagle's neck and leg feathers, areas that are often weak. The surfaces reveal somewhat prooflike tendencies, and show a scattering of light marks, and one grade-limiting mark on the reverse field. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin
