***Auction Highlight*** 1863-s Gold Liberty Quarter Eagle 2.5 Graded ms62+ By SEGS. The 1863-S is a rare quarter eagle issue, boasting a small mintage of 10,800 coins and a paltry surviving population of only 70 or 80 pieces. Obviously, Mint State examples are few and far between -- NGC and PCGS combined record only 12 such submissions (7/16). Demand for the 1863-S is further heightened by the issue's status as the only circulation strike of the year. The Philadelphia Mint -- the only other mint in operation during the height of the Civil War -- produced just 30 proofs in 1863. A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
