Jean-Jacques Boissard (1528-1602) After Abraham de Bruyn, engraving from the Habitus varianum orbis gentium, published in 1596, printed in intaglio by Julius Goltzius and coloured in watercolour, representing three ladies dressed in their best finery. This is the first illustrated book devoted to the Costume of the different countries and peoples of Europe, the Ottoman Empire and the Americas. Framed, 23.5 x 33 cm.
