"Roofs of Tel Aviv (the Carmel Market)" 2023
Oil on canvas

Meet the artist Lena Lieberman (1971), a painter from Tel Aviv who immigrated to Israel in 2000 from Minsk, Belarus, and totally fell in love with Tel Aviv Jaffa, which is the exact opposite of where she immigrated.

Lena was blown away by the charm of the happy, warm city, with its inviting beaches and happy people.

Lena paints Tel Aviv from a cheerful and colorful point of view, full of movement and joy of life. She perpetuates Tel Aviv as she sees it - climbs on the roofs of abandoned buildings and photographs the city that captured her heart from different angles and transfers it to canvas. Recently she began to incorporate many human figures in her paintings, two such new works are presented to you in this sale.

Lena studied at the Avni Institute when she immigrated to Israel, and also learned a lot from her father who was engaged in painting himself. She immigrated to Israel alone, found love here and started a family. She lives in Tel Aviv of course, close to the sea, where she swims at least 20 minutes every morning.

Lena's works are full of oil colors and interesting tiny details, the many layers on the canvas resemble a three-dimensional illusion for a moment.

In this work, a view of the sea from the Carmel Market, which overlooks the Kerem Hatemanim neighborhood. A beautiful work showing the old roofs, a delight for all Tel Aviv lovers.
