[MUSIC AUTOGRAPHS] - DUKE ELLINGTON (1899–1974) - Inscribed and Signed Photographic Portrait - DUKE ELLINGTON (1899–1974) Inscribed and Signed Photographic Portrait Vintage black-and-white photographic portrait of the American jazz composer, pianist and bandleader Duke Ellington, showing him smiling towards the camera in a suit and patterned tie. The photograph is personally inscribed and signed in ink across the lower portion of the image. The inscription appears to read: “To Mr Roland Pieraccini / Sincerely / Duke Ellington” with Ellington’s large, characteristic signature extending prominently across the portrait. An appealing signed portrait of one of the defining personalities of twentieth-century jazz. The personal dedication to Pieraccini and the prominent placement of Ellington’s signature across the image make this a particularly attractive example of his signed photographic portraits. One item: inscribed and signed photographic portrait.
