[MUSIC AUTOGRAPHS] - GIAN CARLO MENOTTI (1911–2007) - Autograph Letter Signed - GIAN CARLO MENOTTI (1911–2007). Autograph Letter Signed. Autograph letter written in Italian (translated) in ink from Scotland to Adriana Panni, 255 × 205 mm, one leaf written on recto and verso. A poignant letter expressing his disappointment at the cancellation of the planned performances of The Unicorn, the Gorgon and the Manticore and The Telephone: “I do not like the idea of sharing the programme with Clementi or anyone else. If an evening devoted to Menotti now seems excessive to you and Gioacchino, then let us simply forget this project, which seems to have been born under an unlucky star. Italy is certainly not where I expect to be well treated. Fortunately, both music and I flourish elsewhere.”
