[VARIOUS AUTOGRAPHS, LETTERS, & DOCUMENTS] - HENRY MILLER (1891–1980) - Autograph Postcard Signed, with Original Envelope, 1964 - HENRY MILLER (1891–1980) Autograph Postcard Signed, with Original Envelope, 1964 Autograph postcard signed “Henry Miller”, dated 13 July 1964 and addressed to the autograph collector Rolando Pieraccini. The postcard, depicting the Palais de la Jetée at Nice during rough seas, is inscribed by Miller in blue ink (“For Rolando Pieraccini / With greetings from / Henry Miller / 13/7/64”, followed by a typically informal postscript: “I am now in bed with the ‘flu’.” Together with the original postal envelope, addressed in Miller’s hand to Signor Rolando Pieraccini, Pesaro, Italy, and bearing his printed return address, “Henry Miller / 444 Ocampo Drive / Pacific Palisades / California 90272”. The envelope bears United States postage stamps and a Pacific Palisades, California, postmark dated December 1964. A charming example of Miller’s autograph correspondence, combining a signed presentation inscription with a characteristically informal reference to his health. The Nice subject of the postcard also offers an evocative reminder of Miller’s long association with France, where he spent some of the most formative years of his literary career. Two items: one autograph postcard signed and the original postal envelope.
