Circa Late 19th Century French Louis-Étienne Desmant Ovoid Vase A finely executed French Art Nouveau ovoid vase by Louis-Étienne Desmant (1844–1902), produced in Subles, Normandy, circa 1894–1900. Crafted in glazed earthenware/stoneware, the vase displays Desmant's celebrated iridescent metallic lustre decoration, with richly colored green, violet, copper, and gold glazes creating a luminous surface characteristic of his finest work. The elegant ovoid form is complemented by a gently tapered neck and sculptural shoulder, reflecting the influence of the French Art Nouveau movement.
