Pennsylvania Chippendale Cherry Chest of Drawers
A Pennsylvania Chippendale Cherry Chest of Drawers, Third Quarter 18th Century. The rectangular top with applied molded edge and rear overhang, above four drawers graduated drawers, flanked by fluted quarter columns, above a base molding, raised on ogee bracket feet. Tulip poplar and pine secondary wood with 3/4 depth dust boards.
Dimensions: Height 36in; width 40 1/2in; depth 24 1/4in; case width 37 3/4in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
Condition:
Structurally sound. The bottom boards with evidence of powder post beetle damage. The foot facings with old repairs, reinforcements and possible placements. Brasses appear to be original, no additional holes to drawer fronts.
